MIGRATION STORIES: UNDERSTANDING SYRIANS

In this study conducted by XSIGHTS Social Research Institute, the main objective was to understand Syrians who live outside the camps in Turkey, and to describe the challenges they face on a daily basis, while exploring their plans for the future.

MIGRATION STORIES: UNDERSTANDING SYRIANS

The results indicate that 20% of Syrians who live outside the camps have no family member left in Syria, while 32% have family members in countries other than Turkey. The language barrier has been a problem for 79% of Syrians, and more than 70% have faced difficulties with housing or employment. The share of Syrians who felt integrated with Turkey was 26%. On the other hand, 73% stated that they felt secure in Turkey.

The findings shed light on their plans for the future. More than half (56%) plan to go back to Syria while 16% expressed their desire to live in a different country. Only 35% of Syrians feel positive about the future of Syria.
