There are 4 main categories of abuse, which are: sexual, physical, emotional abuse, and neglect. It is important to be aware of more specific types of abuse that fall within these categories, they are:<\/p><ul><li>Bullying and cyberbullying<\/li><li>Child sexual exploitation<\/li><li>Child Criminal exploitation<\/li><li>Child trafficking<\/li><li>Domestic abuse<\/li><li>Female genital mutilation<\/li><li>Grooming<\/li><li>Historical abuse<\/li><li>Online abuse<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Safeguarding children: <\/strong>Safeguarding children is defined in as:<\/p><ul><li>protecting children from maltreatment.<\/li><li>preventing impairment of children\u2019s health or development.<\/li><li>ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care.<\/li><li>taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0eca5d4 elementor-widget-divider--view-line policy has been drawn up on the basis of legislation, policy and guidance that seeks to protect children in every country we work in compliance with local legislation.<\/p><p>XSIGHTS should have in place arrangements that reflect the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people as well as vulnerable adults.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c10792d elementor-widget-divider--view-line elementor-widget elementor-widget-divider\" class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>XSIGHTS will ensure an appropriate level of safeguarding training is available to its Trustees, Employees, Volunteers and any relevant persons linked to the organisation who requires it (e.g. contractors).<\/p><p>For all employees who are working or volunteering with children, this requires them as a minimum to have awareness training that enables them to:<\/p><ul><li>Understand what safeguarding is and their role in safeguarding children.<\/li><li>Recognise a child potentially in need of safeguarding and take action.<\/li><li>Understand how to report a safeguarding alert.<\/li><li>Understand dignity and respect when working with children.<\/li><li>Have knowledge of the Safeguarding Children Policy.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Similarly, employees and volunteers may encounter concerns about the safety and wellbeing of an adult at risk of abuse. This must include details of the person involved, the nature of the concern and the actions taken, decision made and why they were made.<\/p><p>All records must be signed and dated.
